Scent guide

How to layer scents

In the Middle East many wear several scents at once. It's called layering – and it is likely the oldest beauty secret in the region. A way to create a scent no one else has, by letting several voices sing together.

Start with a base

Begin low. Apply a perfume oil or a soft musk to the skin first. It adds depth and a warm foundation for everything else to build on – like a footing beneath a house.

Add a main scent

Spray your perfume over the base. Pick something with clear character – oud, rose or tobacco – and let it lead, while the base carries.

Combinations that work

Oud and rose: classic, elegant, timeless. Vanilla and tobacco: warm and calm, like an evening by the fire. Musk and citrus: clean and fresh. Amber and spice: perfect when autumn arrives. The scent becomes your signature.

Three simple rules

Start gently and build up. Combine one heavy and one light scent, so they don't speak over each other. And always test on your skin – a scent only comes alive when it meets you.
